New road

Life has taken a turn and with it we too are turning. As a family we decided it was time for us to make big changes in our life. When we come to a place in life were you see were you want to be and were you are just don't meet We come to a cross roads and need to find a new path. For our family it ment packing up and moving .Its exciting to see things coming together. Hope you enjoy our new journey.  The kids was scarred and sad to make the change. Now they are glad much happier and loving the change. We have started making payments on a small farm. That means building a barn chicken house putting up fences and the whole works. Its a big job but we excited about it.
Spring is coming soon so seeds are started. Yippy garden time!! I found the Jiffy seed starter kit for $1.99. Whoot Whoot what a deal !! I got five started already. I have been bartering Water Kefir for heirloom seeds. The garden is coming together and looking like a great year in store. Just have to deal with the weather. We are trying a few new things  in and around the farm stay Tuned in for more details as we go along.
The goats are due to kid soon. Hoping to get you all some pictures of them this time around.  Right now we have taken over The Mr.s garage and using it for a barn. The goats don't seem to mind much. He did block off part of it and called it the goat free zone. Good thing I got him liking the goats. He was a little scared of them to start with. Couldn't tell that today tho.
The water kefir is going great. That stuff really  grows .We  are trying different flavors to see what we like. The say the strawberry banana is the best .I like the vanilla myself. The hubby is still trying to adjust to the smell of it wich isn't bad to start with hes just not one to try new things. Yet every day with me is something new.
Well thats my update see you all around.

Hey its been awhile. No I didn't fall off the face of the Earth.I am not sure were this post is going to go but, here it goes. T he baby chicks turkeys and geese will be here in a few weeks.Kind of excited about them love the babies .I do!! Spending spring break with my good daughters. So we went from 3 kids to 5.
We planted our onion bed before the rain came was a great lesson. Getting to talk about how the wind strips the top soil and damages it causes. Talking about how these little guys have to be planted with love and handled with care. How you have to fill their needs for them to fill your needs. Sometimes we as people forget that little things in life are so important. We get wrapped up in the me and we lose the big picture. It was so good do hear the lessons I have taught be told by a child to a child. We got our strawberry bed done too. We all worked together as a family and was so productive. Then the rain came much needed it was and grateful for it.So we had to stop gardening.
We spent a rainy day and made lip balm. That was fun too . We did cool flavors like coconut, mint chocochip, root beer. Everyone loves the lip balm and will be so good this summer.
We made Meatloaf pizza!! Ok What is so special about that ? Don't ask me but every kid I have feed it to loves it. It was one of those cases of discovery when you clean out the ice box of left overs. The kids wanted pizza and we had leftover meat loaf so I put it on a dough with sauce and cheese.Meatloaf pizza was born.We only get it when we have leftover meat loaf. People look at the kids weird when they ask if they can have meatloaf pizza. But its ok cause we know its good. I gave in and made one during this spring break and think more kids will be asking for meatloaf pizza.
My kids ask for a lot of foods that get me phone calls like rainbow pancakes and garbage can cookies .I make up a lot of stuff as I go and not always does it have a name so my kids get to name dishes. I will explain some of the wonderful names garbage can cookies are all the left over extra things from baking in a chocochip cookie recipe like what ever left over coconut chips nut any thing not enough to fill a recipe on its own we stash back for these special cookies.Rainbow pancake well I was bad and ran out off choco chips but I had some of the special holiday chips red green white orange and black this was before we found out about the dye causing problems. So I tossed a few in the kids named them. With out telling me I got a call saying what is your son talking about? .It is a good thing I let kids in my kiction!!
We have spent alot of the rainy times talking and learning setting next boxes for chickens from last summer. We are starting to get eggs. Today I discovered why eggs and pliers in the same pocket is a bad idea. Boy that was a fun lesson. Not like I didn't know but sometimes when working with kids you forget which pocket you put that egg in and well it happens, kids all got a good laugh at my expense as I am sure you are too.
The seedlings are growing pretty good and soon it will be time to get this garden started and then harvest the good eats for a year of fresh yummy food. OH OH I almost for got those of us who fight for better food for our kids more stores are jumping on the no pink slime in our meat wagon So keep up the good work those who don't know look it up.Nasty stuff it is.On that note till next time.

Beating Old Man Winter

Old man winter is made his self known. So what do we do?? Well, I fire up the crock pot and fix chili. I thought I would be nice and share my recipe with you. I will tell you up front this is not a burn your mouth taste buds fall off chili. It is a flavorful chili. I myself do not like just one kind of beans. I take a big bucket and make my own mixed beans. I buy lots of different kinds to mix. Once my bucket is full its time to start cooking the beans for what ever bean meal we wish. Moving on to the chili. I take about a quarter of what ever size crock pot I am going to use of beans. Fill with water this is done the nite before I want my beans. Turn on the crock pot and let cook over nite. In the morn I add 1lbs of hamburger 1 can of diced tomato and 1 can tomato sauce2 cloves dices garlic 1 onion diced . Its also time for the mix I keep on had to be added you will use about 1 tbps for a small pot and 2tbsp for a large one.
Here is the mix
2 tbsp chili powder, 1 tsp salt, 1 tsp onion powder, 1 tsp cumin, 1tsp oregano, 1/4 tsp cinnamon, 1/2 paprika, 1/2 tsp basil 1/2 tsp parsley.I also add 1/4tsp red pepper flakes. shake well and store in a old spice jar. When I want chili or that kind of meat I jut pull it out and use it.I my self do a double batch of this. Let all this cook together. Now If I want more veggies then this I have added carrots to the chili (and kids loved it ) bell peppers are good too. Enjoy!!
Now I am not sure who started this but for some reason in my house chili means cinnamon rolls too. These are easy to do to. Use what ever bread recipe you want roll it out with a rolling pin sprinkle with brown sugar and roll it back up cut to 1/2 the size you want put in a slightly greased pan and cover while your chili is cooking put them in the oven at 350 when they are double the size you cut cook for about 45 mins. Butter them when they come out cover with a towel to cool. While they are cooking mix 1 cup powder sugar 1 cap vanilla and 1 tsp milk step in fridge to cool.Once the rolls cool pour on top and serve with the chili. Hope some one enjoys this yummy meal.

Thank you

Sorry I been busy doing my daughter duty. While I was doing it I came to a few thoughts I wanted to bring up. First we all have a life so it should not fall one one kid when there are more then one kid in a family. Families used to help each other not lay it one ones shoulders. The next one I want to say I have the greatest most understanding best husband ! Ok I may be partial but its how I feel. When I called for help he came not knowing what he could do but he helped my dad more then he thought he could and for that I thank him so. If you are lucky enough to have a great dad and him still be with you. Dont take him for granted tell him and spend as much time with him as you can.I read the short 6 sentance thing his son wrote and thought" Wow thats it really??" I could have said so much more but mom had told him he could do it. I could have said "How he was always there for us day or nite. How funny the nite I drove to thier house and woke them knocking on the bedroom window and he tried to figure out how to get threw the christmas tree to let me in lol it was in front a door we never used . How he came to hospital when I had my oldest son and was covered in greese and got it on the newborn. The nurses couldnt wash it off. How I tought him him to use the grill cause I couldnt eat anther charcole filet mignon that was no long meat but a little black bricket. How I drove him nuts bringing chickens and goats in his house cause they was sick and had to be watched but they wanted me there. How we always came and sleep at his house for christmas and spent christmas eve there so he could get the kids all excited about santa and him and dad had to help santa out the high lines one time cause they wasnt in bed so santa took out our electric . HOw he came to me to ask me to marry my mom and I got all serious and told him i would be ok with it if he got all he teeth pulled and false teeth and he did . He always keep his word. He believed a mans only as good as his word. He always had words of wisdom to share with you like eat when you are not hungry prevents you from getting hungry. Another one he liked to tell me was dont worry it never solves anything. He was a fixer wanted to fix everything and did everything but his cancer. He didn't get past 8th grade yet helped build the stuff for heat shields for nasa. His knowdge didnt come from school but the life of hard knocks. He loved to read and it didnt matter what it was .He always said a day you dont learn is a day waisted. How great he loved his grandkids and had so much he tought and more he wanted to teach. I would have said the best birthday present was when he became my dad.A daughter cant ask for more then to be told I may not have sired you but you are the best daughter a man could be given. I was so lucky that god gave me a daughter like you and being able to tell him it was an honor to be his daughter .But it was not my job to write for him So none of that was said.Thank you listioning and I will try to make the next post up beat.

Time

This week has been alittle crazy for me. I have spent alot of time trying not to cry. As I try and say see you later to every improtant person to me. I want to post today about something we sometimes take forgranted each other. If you have a partner spouse or other is what ever you are fighting about or over worth it?Cause somewere there is some one saying good bye to thiers not of thier wishes but because they are being called from this life. They would give anything to have what few minutes you are waisting on fighting over useless crap. Are you a child who is too busy for your parents or a parent thats too busy for your child some were there is a child wishing they had just a little more time with their parent of a parent with thier child. Dont waist what time you have because the time will be gone before you know it.
My step dad who has been there for me more then my father. Is fading from this life and I am watchinhg as his only birth son is missing his last days with his dad cause he is too busy. I wish for more days with him. So dont take for granted cause one day you will see the last day and time will be up. Please let your loved ones know how you feel make time to enjoy each other and not just for the holidays but everyday.
If we don't seek each monemt of our lifes then they will be lost forever for we never get them back. who we touch and how we effect them is up to us. The river of life never stops flowing it bends and twists untill it reaches the ocean and is the swallowed up. Do not waist your river.

Here everyone I been asked to talk about the farm. I am going to talk about goats and stupidity. There are goats are ment to have two teats. Having extra is a deformation doesn't help in the amount of milk or the amount of babies they can care for.It has been brought to my attion that some people are letting babies die because they dont have this deformation. While the goat with this deformation could still be a good goat and serve you well it causes problems .A baby goat may get the wrong teat and not get any milk and starve to death. So you must watch for this. If I was to get a goat with this I would band the extra teat to save her troubles later. So letting a baby goat die because its not deformed is just plain stupid.
I have been told goats are mean. NO THEY ARE NOT !! UNLESS YOU make them that way!!!!! My goats are loyal loving and caring . I have even caught my daughter napping with the goats while one stands over her making sure she is safe and one is her pillow. Boy that is mean. My billy if he gets scared hides behind me. We are talk a full grown billy. So do not believe all goats are mean!!
While yes goats are a food producing animal does not mean they should be miss treated. If you make your self a threat then you will be viewed as one. If you are good to them they will be good to you. Before you breed or by please educate yourself.
