Old man winter is made his self known. So what do we do?? Well, I fire up the crock pot and fix chili. I thought I would be nice and share my recipe with you. I will tell you up front this is not a burn your mouth taste buds fall off chili. It is a flavorful chili. I myself do not like just one kind of beans. I take a big bucket and make my own mixed beans. I buy lots of different kinds to mix. Once my bucket is full its time to start cooking the beans for what ever bean meal we wish. Moving on to the chili. I take about a quarter of what ever size crock pot I am going to use of beans. Fill with water this is done the nite before I want my beans. Turn on the crock pot and let cook over nite. In the morn I add 1lbs of hamburger 1 can of diced tomato and 1 can tomato sauce2 cloves dices garlic 1 onion diced . Its also time for the mix I keep on had to be added you will use about 1 tbps for a small pot and 2tbsp for a large one.
Here is the mix
2 tbsp chili powder, 1 tsp salt, 1 tsp onion powder, 1 tsp cumin, 1tsp oregano, 1/4 tsp cinnamon, 1/2 paprika, 1/2 tsp basil 1/2 tsp parsley.I also add 1/4tsp red pepper flakes. shake well and store in a old spice jar. When I want chili or that kind of meat I jut pull it out and use it.I my self do a double batch of this. Let all this cook together. Now If I want more veggies then this I have added carrots to the chili (and kids loved it ) bell peppers are good too. Enjoy!!
Now I am not sure who started this but for some reason in my house chili means cinnamon rolls too. These are easy to do to. Use what ever bread recipe you want roll it out with a rolling pin sprinkle with brown sugar and roll it back up cut to 1/2 the size you want put in a slightly greased pan and cover while your chili is cooking put them in the oven at 350 when they are double the size you cut cook for about 45 mins. Butter them when they come out cover with a towel to cool. While they are cooking mix 1 cup powder sugar 1 cap vanilla and 1 tsp milk step in fridge to cool.Once the rolls cool pour on top and serve with the chili. Hope some one enjoys this yummy meal.
